Autumn is here, maybe not quite in Dubai but we like to pretend that it is. I recommend you a delightful spice-scented cake for you to enjoy.

Method
Use a round 20cm diameter cake tin. Line it with baking paper. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
Put all the dry ingredients in a bowl of a standing mixer. In a separate bowl whisk all the wet ingredients. Add the wet ingredients to the dry mixture and mix it for a couple of minutes till well blended. Mix in the apple. Pour the batter into the tin.
Bake it for 1 hour or until a cake skewer inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.
Once done, let it cool and serve with some sieved icing sugar on top.
Ingredients
 
- 3 cups self - rising flour
 - 1 1/4 cups castor sugar
 - 1 ½ tbsp. cocoa powder
 - 1 ½ tsp bicarbonate of soda
 - ⅔ cup sunflower oil
 - 1 ½ cups 3% fat Greek yogurt
 - 1 ½ cup full fat milk
 - ½ teaspoon of orange essential oil
 - ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
 - 1 small apple, diced
 - 1 tablespoon of cinnamon
 - 1/3 teaspoon grounded cloves
 - 1 teaspoon allspice
 - 1/3 teaspoon ground cardamom
 - 1/3 grated nutmeg
